Director Bharathi Raja: As 1970ís rolled on another
filmmaker came on the movie scene with a bang after many years of whimper
struggle penury and hard work. This young man from the backwoods of Tamil Nadu,
Chinnasami then Bharathi Raja hit the bull's eye with a thud.
After working as assistant director in many films he made a
film on his own "Pathinaru Vayathinilay" which catapulted him to the sky.
Starring Sridevi, Kamal Hasan and Rajinikanth this film with a rural background
proved immensely popular and it brought to the screen the odour of the rural
soil and earth.
