Padikathavan has all the elements of a potboiler – love at first sight with a
rich girl challenged by parents, family sentiment, duets and gravity defying
stunts. Suraj has a reputation in delivering laugh riot entertainers.
Padikathavan also boasts of being the highest budget movie in Dhanush's career.
Made at a break neck speed, the movie was over in 110 days. Highlights of the
shoots being: the village festivities that are shot in a grandeur set laid out
in 15 acres of land complete with 350 shops and junior artistes, numbering
hundreds, from the surrounding villages brought in using 50 trucks. Sources who
have had a sneak peek of the movie swear that the fight scenes are top notch..
Dhanush is paired up with the charming Punjabi lass Tamana who made a few jaws
drop with her fluency in Tamil at the audio release event. Now we really do not
know if Suraj has made her dub for the movie, but we have a sneaky suspicion he
has. So Dhanush's Padikathavan shows all the potential of a humble hit, same way
Polladhavan pulled it off for Diwali years ago.
