Vijay’s 50th film is titled Sura and is a remake of
Mohanlal’s 2007 hit film Chotta Mumbai directed by Anwar Rasheed. Chota
Mumbai which was set in the backdrop of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry area tells
the story of a few happy go-lucky fishermen who are into anything for making
money. The team is headed by Vasco (Mohanlal), fondly called Thalai by his
Actor Vijay had recently admitted that he has no plans on joining politics.
According to the script, Vijay’s character has been named as Sura in the role of
a fisherman who dwells in the slums situated across coastal region. Grapevine is
Vijay’s character is similar to that of MGR in Meenava Nanban. Sura also
features Vadivelu. Mani Sharma scores the music.
Sura is directed by S.P. Rajkumar, who directed a couple of comedy En Purushan
Kuzhandhai Madhiri and Ponmanam earlier. He has recently offered Azhagarmalai.
Rajkumar had altered the character of the lead role in Vijay’s style. Sura is
produced by Sangili Murugan under the banner of Murugan Cine Arts. Kadhalukku
Mariyadhai, Vijay’s first big hit, was also produced by Murugan.
